The members of Sanders Family Foundation of H.O.P.E. has a long, deep familial history and connection with the Clover Hill community is Jackson, Mississippi. For generations, our family has lived, owned property, worked and been educated in the Clover Hill Subdivision and surrounding area. Starting with our great-grandparents, grandparents, parents and many other relatives, we have called west Jackson our home. We believe it will honor the legacy of our families’ rich history of community service and home ownership to revitalize this community, restore the hope and renew the pride in this once thriving historically African American neighborhood.
This historic community is located between Freedom Corner (MLK, Blvd and Medgar Evers Blvd) and Woodrow Wilson Avenue. The district is historically significant statewide at the first modern subdivision in Mississippi designed for middle-class blacks after World War II. This area was developed by Winston J. Thompson, a black entrepreneur and most of the houses were built by Leroy Burnett a black builder.
